The tourist information centre in Queenstown. In NZ the TICs are called isites. The TIC is always my first port of call when I visit a new town, or indeed, when I return to a town. I remember with fondness the woman in Dublin’s TIC who was so delightfully proprietorial of her centre; the woman in Gatehouse of Fleet with an impeccable English accent and the woman in the Brussels TIC who exclaimed “But the meat is so lovely!” when I asked about vegetarian restaurants.

My first overseas sketch – on a two week visit to NZ. Most of the time was spent catching up with Ben, but I did, after several days, find an hour to sit outside our AirBnB in Twizel and sketch the view.,+New+Zealand/@-44.2579608,170.1004931,3a,75y,257h,90t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sUxoDvC1FxRDPqakNOC5plg!2e0!!7i13312!8i6656!4m5!3m4!1s0x6d2ae07328bbedbf:0x500ef868479bb00!8m2!3d-44.2599014!4d170.1042942!6m1!1e1?hl=en
